Welcome from the District Governor

Hello, and thanks for visiting the Lions of Virginia! We Are District 24-D, our service area is the South East corner of the state. From Sussex County through Hampton Roads to include Virginia Beach, the Eastern Shore all the way up to King William, Tappahannock and Northumberland Counties. For a comprehensive map, click the “Find a Club” link on the menu on the left.

The Lions started in 1917 when our founder, Melvin Jones asked, "What if these men who are successful because of their drive, intelligence and ambition, were to put their talents to work improving their communities?" In 1925
Helen Keller spoke at our International Convention and challenged us to become “Knights of the Blind”. Our mission soon grew to include Hearing Preservation, and continues to grow to this day. Our Service Projects include not just Sight and Hearing but Youth, Literacy, Environment, Diabetes, Community & Global Outreach, Health and Disaster/Hunger Relief. That is an impressive focus, but by no means our limits. Because of our history and experience Lions Clubs all over the world are granted incredible flexibility and access which allows us, to be not just one of the most compassionate service organizations, but one of the most effective as well.

 In short,
If you NEED help, we are here for you.

If you WANT to help, we welcome you.

Yours in Lionism,
